Christmas Broadcast, 1957

My friend David and I first connected on the Internet via our shared loved for another FESTIVE! favorite, ZE records disco diseuse Cristina. It turns out we also both worship Siouxsie and Kate Bush. David has an incredibly cool job (you know how much I love librarians and archivists), an adorable son, once worked as Angelyne's personal assistant, and, when I asked him once about reconciling the Christian faith with my homosexuality, sent back an e-mail saying (and I'm paraphrasing) "I'm not sure I can offer much advice, my church is the gayest place I've ever been that didn't have go-go boys." David also has a thing for the Royal Family, which is why I found myself watching this clip at 3:00 AM. Up until she starts talking about colonialism and new members of the Commonwealth, her words are still very applicable. Plus I love watching a world leader speak without a teleprompter!
